I always just throw ingredients into my blender and see
how it turns out. This one was so yummy I made myself actually write down what
I used. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think!
The Best
Tasting Smoothie Ever!!!
8 oz. Apple Juice – (I steam juiced my own from my apple tree, yum! Can’t
get any more organic than that.)
2 Organic Valencia Oranges Peeled (I have a high powered
blender so I leave the seeds.
You may want to deseed if you do not have a high powered
blender.)
½ C. Plain Greek Yogurt*
1 Squirt Vanilla Crème Sweet Leaf® Liquid Stevia
Small Handful Organic Frozen Cranberries
Large Handful Organic Frozen Raspberries
Large Handful Organic Frozen Blueberries
½ Frozen Organic Banana
A Chunk of Frozen Thai Coconut Meat** (about 1/3 C.?)
4 Frozen Cubes Coconut Water**
Blend for approximately 1-1/2
minutes or to desired consistency. Makes approximately 24 oz.
*Greek yogurt contains twice the
protein vs. carbs. Other yogurts are the opposite. The Costco where I live
carries two brands: Fage® (pronounced Fa-yeh!) for $4.99, or the Kirkland®
brand for $6.99. The Kirkland® brand is a two pack where the Fage® is only one.
I guess it depends on how quickly you will use it as to whether or not you’d
want one or two at a time.
**I buy Thai coconuts, drain water into ice cube
trays and freeze. (You could also purchase coconut water and freeze but you
wouldn’t know for sure how much it has been processed to put in that cute
little package.) Then I break open the coconut, scoop out the meat and put it in
a freezer baggie and freeze. I buy a box of nine coconuts at once, usually from
an Asian market. The last time I got a screaming deal. The store only had seven
coconuts in the box so they gave them to me for $2.00 each! Done! I was way
excited. The water from one coconut fills an ice cube tray, more or less. When
those two trays are frozen I put the cubes in a freezer bag and move on to the
next two coconuts. That reminds me, I still have one sitting in the fridge,
hmm. Anyway, my dog even loves the leftover coconut meat. Maybe because she
doesn’t want the chickens to have it. Go figure. I used to just throw it away,
but not anymore. Good thing too because it made the flavor amazing. Or it could
have been the apple juice. I’ve never used it in a smoothie before either…Of
course most people probably don’t have their own juiced apples, so try an
organic frozen concentrate. Do not dilute. Half a can should work.
